Sharpening Done Right
I’m Thomas, the owner and head sharpener at Fremont Sharpening. I grew up cooking for my family and working in busy restaurants, where I learned firsthand the difference that a sharp blade makes.
A sharp edge isn’t just a luxury: it’s safer, more efficient, and makes every cut smooth and satisfying.
I started Fremont Sharpening so home cooks and professionals alike can enjoy that same feeling every day. Your knives deserve better than dull edges and long wait times: that’s why I bring them back sharper-than-new within 55 minutes.
FAQs
What payment methods do you accept?
Once your blades are ready, I’ll send over an online invoice via text for a smooth payment process via credit card or Apple/Google pay. We also accept cash, Venmo, and Zelle.
Do I have to be home when you come?
Nope! Just leave your knives on the porch, and I’ll come by and sharpen right there on-site.
Can you fixed damaged blades?
Yes! Repair of small chips and tip damage is always included at no extra cost.
For extensive repairs or broken tips that require reshaping, an additional charge may apply. I’ll always let you know how much repairs will cost before I go to work on them.
I have a [ ] that needs to be sharpened. Can you handle it?
Probably! I can sharpen almost any blades, straight or curved. Reach out to me and we’ll work it out.
What is your sharpening process?
I use a professional Ken Onion belt sharpener with belts up to 3000 grit. I then use leather belts with stropping compound for a mirror-edge razor finish.
Precision is a top priority: I always take great care to match the bevel angle of your knives and tools to ensure a minimum amount of material is removed, prolonging the life of your blade.
To guarantee blade performance and your satisfaction, I make every customer a unique paper-slicing video showing the cutting performance of their blades before and after I work on them.
How often should I get my knives sharpened?
Most home cooks find that they could use a new edge every 3-6 months, depending on usage. Busy kitchens may need fresh sharpening every month.
What’s the maximum number of blades you can sharpen in one session?
I can do about 10 blades in a 60 minute period. If you have more than that or if there’s lots of damage to repair, I can definitely still help you! Just let me know in advance so I can be prepared.
